Moving Picture Institute Internship

The Moving Picture Institute (MPI) is currently seeking interns for the summer 2011 term.
MPI cultivates talented young filmmakers, screenwriters, producers, directors, and others who are committed to using the aesthetic power of film to promote the core American value of freedom.
Pairing interns with MPI production partners and filmmakers, MPI has placed interns at such well-positioned production companies as Lionsgate Entertainment, Johnny Depp's Infinitum Nihil, Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Productions, and the Disney Channel. MPI provides stipends for all interns, and assists with locating housing as needed. While most interns are based in Los Angeles, some are matched with directors or production companies in New York, Boston, or other major metropolitan areas. Los Angeles interns meet one another and, when possible, attend industry events.
During the summer, MPI interns will participate in seminars with MPI advisors and staff, who assign readings and host discussions about the integration of film and ideas of liberty, and various aspects of the industry. MPI also follows up regularly with interns and hosts throughout the term, maintaining a strong, collaborative relationship between all three parties and ensuring the intern has a thorough, enriching experience.
A stipend is provided to help with living expenses during the internship.
Responsibilities:
Interns' responsibilities vary depending upon their host placements' job descriptions. Typical tasks include, but are not limited to, script coverage (reading, analyzing, and performing a written evaluation of a screenplay), production assistance, research, graphics work, and administrative/office duties.
Qualifications:
MPI is looking for independent, dynamic, creative, energetic, and self-motivated college juniors and seniors-or recent graduates-who possess excellent research and communication abilities and who have a demonstrable interest in film production. The ideal candidate is committed to individual rights and has an informed appreciation for American liberty. Judgment, focus, organization, empathy, an ability to work under pressure, and a sense of humor are also important.
Application Procedures:
The deadline for summer applications is April 9. Interested candidates should fax, mail, or e-mail a cover letter and résumé to:
